Parent Resources

So far, here are some of Ginger's favorite links to support you in parenting and family music-making!

The intention is to keep adding to this page, and get other teachers' recommendations too, so please

keep checking back. This page is still "under construction," but here's a lot to get started with!

Music To Enjoy With Your Children (besides Music Together, of course!)

Jessica Harper  My son and I LOVED Jessica Harper's music when he was younger (we still do). Do yourself a favor and check her out! Our favorite CD of hers is "Inside Out, " but we also love "Rhythm in my Shoes." We never heard her others, but I bet they're fun.

Putumayo Kids' CDs  The Putumayo label has a wealth of children's world music CDs. This link has them all, and if you click on an album cover, you can listen to samples from that album.

Twilight Comes Tiptoeing, A Collection of Lullabies  OK, OK, I know ... it's my CD... But I honestly DO think it's great music to enjoy with your child! I wrote these songs for my son when he was small. I've sung these songs in my classes for many years, and I can't count all the families who say they love them. The recording has won three awards, most notably a 2013 Parents' Choice Silver Honor Award! Learn more and listen to song samples by clicking the link here or on the LULLABIES! link in the main menu.

Tom Chapin, Family Tree  This is my all-time favorite kids' album from Tom Chapin. I think every kid should get to hear it and learn these songs. Silly, fun, beautiful...

Red Grammer, Down the Do Re Mi Red Grammer has a lot of great stuff, but this one was a huge favorite in our home when Loren was younger!

Shopping for Music stuff!

Music Together Singalong Storybooks! Boy, I love these! I wish they had them when my son was young. I encourage you to get one or more for home use. "Hello Everybody" is set in San Francisco! Click the link to get them from Music Together's store.

West Music  This is where I get a lot of the instruments we use in class! TONS of choices at great prices. Tip: go to the website and ask them to send you a printed catalog - there's so much on the website, it's a little overwhelming. With the printed catalog, you can see everything more easily, and then go online and order, knowing more what you want.
