Music, Songbooks, Guides:

To get the most out of this course, play your music from class at home or in the car as frequently as possible, especially during the first weeks of class.

  • Make the Sticks Collection music available to your child to listen to while he/she is playing or before nap or bedtime.

  • Sing along with it and do the activities from class (or make up your own!) as often as possible.

  • Use the songbook to help you remember the songs. The songbook can also be used like a story book, with you and your child looking at the pictures while you sing the songs that go with them. You can point to the pictures while singing, and also the line of musical notation on each page. This helps children to understand that music is a written language, too. You can do this even if you don’t read musical notation!

New families receive the informative book: Music and Your Child, A Guide for Parents and Caregivers. Reading it will help you understand a great deal about early childhood musical development.

Health, Safety, and Courtesy:

Please read the Policies and Procedures and the Liability Waiver, if you haven’t already done so! These are required reading. Thanks! (link at top of this page)

We encourage children to open themselves to the class experience in their own way, even if that means wandering around. Adults, please keep on making music, but at the same time be sure to monitor your child’s actions to make sure they are safe.

If your child’s behavior should become disruptive to the musical process (this includes running and high-pitched screaming), you can first try to model some musical behavior such as whatever the class is doing, or drumming on the ground, or tummy-rubbing - something to try to interest her/him positively. This type of musical distraction is often effective. There are some easy tips we can share about this. Please talk to us about any concerns you may have. Musical play can sometimes become over-stimulating, however. If your child doesn’t respond to your model of more appropriate behavior, you and your child can just step away from the circle for a brief change of scene, and come back whenever you’re ready.

Please stay home if you or anyone living in your home is showing any of these symptoms:

fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, other respiratory symptoms, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, or sore throat. Also, please stay home if you or anyone you’ve been in close contact with has been exposed to COVID-19.

Be sure you are familiar with the “sickness protocols” laid out on the policies document.

Refund/Credit Policy for Winter 2026:

Santa Rosa: For the full policy regarding refunds and credits,

Healdsburg: We follow the City of Healdsburg’s refund/credit policy, found on the city’s Community Services website HERE.

Attendance and Arrival:

Attendance is important! The more consistently a child attends, the more musical progress is made, and the more comfortable and happy the child becomes in class. It’s best to get to the door a few minutes before your scheduled class time. If you are late, sing the Hello song on the way to help your child ease into class.

Shoes and Personal Belongings:

We do not wear shoes in class, so upon entering, you’ll leave your shoes and belongings at designated areas away from our music circle. At the Santa Rosa location, it’s a good idea to put socks on your child with gripper soles to prevent slipping on the wood floor. Also, you can bring socks to wear if you prefer not to be barefoot during “sandals weather.”

Visitors and Extra Family members:

Adults (without additional children) involved with your child are welcome any time. There is no need to email us about this.

Can I bring in a sibling who is not enrolled for a class visit?

Please tell Ginger in advance if you want to bring a non-enrolled sibling over 8 months.

We allow one free class per sibling per session. Subsequent visits are $18. This is for siblings from 8 months to 6 years of age (siblings under 8 months and over 6 yrs. are always free). The fees collected from this go to help needy families attend MT class.

Can I bring a non-sibling, non-enrolled child or an adult visitor with a child to my class?

If you wish to bring an additional unenrolled child or a visiting family who will sit in class with you, this is possible- only with advance permission! Every family with a child in attendance must read and agree to the policies and procedures before coming to a class, so please give me one week’s notice and also the contact info of any family (or the parent of a visiting child) you wish to bring. This will allow time to get them the docs and have them respond with their agreement. There will now be a $18 fee for visiting children.

GERMS ... and what we do about them in our classes!

Click the button to read or download a PDF of the policies and procedures we use to keep our classrooms as germ-free as possible.

Singalong Story/Lullaby Evenings!

Join Ginger Mondays on Zoom at 6:45 PM for a 20-25 minute special song and story event! This is only for enrolled families, for some extra sweetness in your week. We’ll sing songs from the Sticks Collection, and read short books related to the songs. You’ll receive a weekly email on Monday mornings with that evening’s plan. There will be 8 special Monday evenings, starting January 19.

Fully illustrated plan for the Story/Lullaby Evenings HERE!

Thank you all!
