Introducing Music Together Online!
As you might imagine, we're pretty big on community-oriented, in-person music participation, but, since we must stay home this spring, for our safety and that of others around us, Music Together Worldwide (our “Mothership”) has granted us permission to bring you Music Together in a different way.
Music Together Online is a package of online music experiences and resources that creates a comprehensive music learning program with the same high quality you're used to with the Music Together program.
...Please be sure to read the section below about screen time and adult involvement.
A Santa Rosa family enjoys Music Together Online with a song led by our Director, Ginger, and her son. This program has been great for families to connect musically, and keep their children's musical development supported while under SIP rules. It's not too late to join us!
What is it?
A 10-week session's worth of classes! - posted weekly until Saturday, June 13. Each of our Mixed Age teachers (Ginger, Star Tom and Ali) are doing a mixture of posting pre-recorded class videos and/or offering Zoom classes, and all families enrolled can "attend" any teacher's classes. The pre-recorded classes are being posted on Vimeo, a private, password-protected video platform (similar to YouTube, but no ads or other videos- just us!) Each family will receive more than a 45-minute experience each week. You’ll receive a posting schedule, and e-mails alerts about special bonus videos, so you and your little ones can look forward to new content each week. All classes from all the weeks will remain on the Vimeo site- you will not miss any.
Maracas Song Collection. Since we can't get physical songbooks and CDs to you right now, we will issue everyone enrolled in “MT Online” a music download code and the promise of getting your physical materials as soon as it is deemed safe! The download code can be used in the Hello Everybody app, or on a computer in the "Family Music Zone" and it will give you the music as well as a digital copy of the songbook. We know it might be months before we can get the physical books/CDs to you, but you will get a real songbook as soon as possible.
Our new private Facebook group on our Santa Rosa Area Music Together page. Besides the weekly class videos, families receive an invitiation to join our private Enrolled Families Facebook Group, where they'll have access to fun content like pop-up occasional live experiences through Facebook live videos and Zoom classes, activity downloads for the kids, videos of instrument-making at home, and the chance to upload your own videos from home and chat with our community.
Uncle Gerry! Access to videos from our very own Uncle Gerry, from our recordings, exclusively for enrolled families.
Downloadable family resources (coloring pages, musical games, etc)
A sliding-scale tuition (we know some of you are out of work right now). Choose your tuition from $90-$140 per family for the full course, with no sibling fees. You will have access to ALL of the classes, even if you join late!
Please pay what you can truly afford. We want to give a break to families who are out of work now, but please realize we are still professional music educators with the goal of providing you with the highest quality music learning experience for your child. You will choose your tuition at registration checkout from a drop-down menu. Bear in mind you haven't missed any classes- even if you join late! They are all posted.
Wait, screen time?
We know screen time isn’t generally recommended for young children, but here’s the difference: YOU!
When children stare at a screen and passively receive information, they don’t take it in the same way nor do they learn in the same way as when they have the active participation of a caregiver or parent. So, just like in our classes, you’re still the most important part. A teacher will be on the screen, but it is truly the interaction of the parent/caregiver with the child that will support their music development! We will give you lots of fun activities and ideas to do at home!
Also, please remember, children do not generally sit still! We don’t expect them to do so in class, so please don’t expect them to at home! You just keep making music with the teacher on the screen, follow along, and have faith your child is getting a ton of info and education from your involvement, even if they move about the room!
There is no class time you must commit to, since it's in your own time at home:
